What if all the critical information you need was seamlessly brought together—clear, connected, and available exactly when you need it?
In partnership with TEHIK, Kodality developed the Dataviewer (estonian - Andmevaatur) project to unify and present fragmented patient data, providing healthcare professionals with an instant and comprehensive overview of a patient’s treatment history. This initiative ensures that crucial health information is readily available, structured, and easily accessible for improved decision-making.
What is Dataviewer?
Dataviewer processes HL7 v3 CDA data from multiple sources, including:
- Laboratory results
- Medical procedures
- Immunizations
- Allergies
- Patient risks and critical conditions
This data is transformed into the FHIR model and presented in a user-friendly web portal, offering a clear and structured overview of a patient’s medical history. The software solution behind Dataviewer was designed and developed by Kodality, ensuring a seamless and efficient system tailored to the needs of healthcare professionals.
Who Can Use Dataviewer?
Dataviewer is available to all registered healthcare professionals working in medical institutions. To access the system, users must:
- Have a valid registration with the Practitioner Registry
- Ensure their workplace information system is configured for Dataviewer integration
In 2024, Dataviewer recorded 1,339,228 visits, with users spending an average of 11 minutes and 11 seconds per session, demonstrating its widespread use and deep engagement among healthcare professionals.
As of April 2023, more than 500 healthcare providers are actively using Dataviewer. The largest users include:
- North Estonia Medical Centre
- Tartu University Hospital
- East Tallinn Central Hospital
- Qvalitas Medical Centre
- Confido Medical Centre
Why Does It Matter?
Previously, retrieving patient data from the national Health Information System was a time-consuming process. Clinicians had to manually search, retrieve, and review numerous documents to get a complete overview of a patient's health status.
With Dataviewer:
- Less time is spent searching for information, allowing for more patient-centric care
- Critical health data is visualized, making it easier for clinicians to interpret and act on information
- Health, social, and employment data are integrated, offering a more holistic view of the patient’s overall well-being
Our development team played a key role in ensuring the platform is not just functional but also intuitive, responsive, and capable of handling large-scale data processing efficiently.
More Than Just Medical Records
Dataviewer goes beyond traditional health data. It provides insight into a patient’s broader health lifespan by integrating additional information from national databases:
- Health Insurance, Prescriptions, and Sick Leave Data from the Health Insurance Fund
- Work Ability and Disability Information from the Unemployment Insurance Fund and Social Insurance Board
This integration makes Dataviewer the first healthcare solution to bring together medical, employment, and social welfare data in one platform, supporting more informed clinical decisions. It is also the first FHIR-based service to be implemented in Estonia’s national health system.
